Welcome to Year 6!
Welcome to Year 6’s website pages. Here you can find photographs of the Year 6 classes in action, copies of letters we send home, this week’s English homework, useful websites and examples of our wonderful work. Don’t forget that every week Mathletics homework is set – pupils need to log in to complete their homework before they can play any further Mathletics games.
All Year 6 homework is set on a Monday, to be completed by the following Monday.
The children have made a splendid start to Year 6. They have settled well into their new classes, embraced their monitor roles and thrown themselves into their first topic. We have planned many lovely learning opportunities in this first half term. The whole school started the term by looking at David Weisner’s beautiful book ‘Flotsam’. Year 6 pupils have used art, writing, maths and even photography to explore the book in imaginative ways.
Our first Year 6 topic is entitled “Bright gleam of victory” – a quotation from Winston Churchill, which links beautifully with our first history and English topic on World War Two and our first science topic exploring light. Our first maths unit of work looks at place value, followed by addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.
Please keep making regular visits to check out what Year 6 are up to!
